About

Cheaper Driving is an independent, free resource that helps drivers see what their vehicle really costs to run, starting with one question: what would going electric save you on gas?

Why it exists

Fuel prices swing, and most advice about whether an EV is “cheaper” is vague. The honest answer depends on your vehicle, what you pay for gas and electricity, and how far you drive. So the calculator lets you put in your own numbers and shows the working.

How we keep it trustworthy

  • Every vehicle rating is an official EPA figure, not a manufacturer claim or a guess.
  • The formula is simple and fully explained on the How it works page.
  • We say what the calculator leaves out, including public charging, incentives and heavy-duty trucks the EPA does not rate.
  • No sign-up, no email capture, and no pressure to buy anything.

Independence

Cheaper Driving is not affiliated with the EPA, the Department of Energy or any vehicle maker. If we ever add affiliate links or sponsored content, they will be clearly labeled and will never change the figures in the calculator.
